YOLO

You Only Live Once.
The battle cry of many who wish to live as they please. Or else an excuse for some to brush off mistakes they've made. Regardless of your reasons for saying it, are you even aware of what you are actually saying?
You only live once. You've only got one life. One life. Live it to the fullest.
This does not mean live however you want. Do whatever you want. To truly live life to the fullest, you cannot actually be selfish in living. If you live only for yourself, what shallow arrogance! To think that you, a mere dust mote in an infinite cosmos, is actually the center of everything! And yet you are. I cannot tell you just how beautiful you are. How special you are. And if I seem or come across harsh in what I say, it only goes to show just how much I actually care about you. Life isn't about you. It isn't about me. It's all about "us". I am not telling you to not be your own person. I am not telling you to not be unique. We each were crafted individually. Knit together in our mothers' wombs. We all have meaning and purpose. For some, they have specific purposes. Callings. But we all each have our passions. And many of us, I believe, are gifted with choosing our own callings. Forging our own destinies. We, in turn, create.
But if we use all of that for selfishness, only for ourselves, what joy is there in that? If others find no enjoyment from it, gain nothing from it, then it is empty and meaningless. And the only pointless that exists is that which we make for ourselves. From the selfishness of our own self-importance. When the path of true importance, comes from giving meaning to others. In order to truly be great, we must step aside and allow others to take the spotlight. This is the truth I've learned. The truth that has been revealed to me.

You only have one life. Make it matter.

    1. Frodo cannot help but be selfish. He just does his own thing. So he is an exception, yes.
